More Details on Radeon HD 4400 & 4600

The launch of AMD's mainstream and budget gaming GPUs is near and leaks are becoming more and more rampant. Today, Hexus posted their haul; cards from the 4600 & 4400 family.

First up is the group shot:

Next is the first appearance of the RV710 based card, most likely to feature 120 Shader processors and taking the 4400 branding according to Fuad. The card is passively cooled, which is interesting as passive cooling solutions rarely feature on reference designs. The card sports 1 DVI, 1 DisplayPort & 1 HDMI interface.

Next up is the Radeon HD 4650. The choice of a half-height card is interesting none the less.

According to Vr-Zone, the Vantage scores are as follows:

Note that the 3850 score is from the DDR2 version.

Even though the price points of these GPUs is close to the the 3800/9600 series, these are designed from the ground-up to provide decent performance while keeping the costs down. So while the launch price may not be that great, it will fall very quickly compared to how long it took the 3800/9600 series to reach the current pricing level.

The mainstream/entry-level battle is about to begin and AMD is about to take the first shot.

Stumble it!
