Radeon 4800 outselling GTX 200 by 4-1 ratio?

And this includes the figures after the massive price drops on the GTX 200 series recently. A quick look at the number of submissions Futuremark's ORB, will give you a glimpse about the purchasing trends in the graphics industry.

4850 was available in large quantities even prior to its launch on June 16 while 4870 was available in limited quantities on June 25 and later on as Qimonda ramped up GDDR5 production, the availability was normal. This is reflected accurately in the above graph as the 4870 numbers ramp up after July 1 and eventually match 4850, amazingly I might add. And the numbers for GTX280 show a small increases in the first and latter halves of this month, reflecting that the price drops did made an impact.

Most of the people who buy a graphics card is bound to run 3DMark to get a sense of instant gratification, hence we feel that Futuremark's sample is broader than the Steam Hardware Survey. Steam Hardware Survey currently has no numbers on either the Geforce GTX 200 or Radeon HD 4800 series.
